SSFE's second design, The Mach 6 will continue to push the airspeed record further. We will return to this aircraft for more flight testing in the fall.
SSFE’s 2nd aircraft Mach 6 took off from Rellis Airfield Runway in Bryan, TX at 6:45 PM CST. Mach 6 flew 1 standard lap like a standard air traffic pattern with 4 basic turns.
Mach 6 successfully landed after one lap. The final recorded ground speed was 76 mph.
This was the first flight test of The Mach 6. The video captures the aircraft's performance during the test.
Overall, the flight was successful with some minor issues identified. We received really valuable feedback for future improvements.
