Society of Sonic Flight Engineers (SSFE) was founded on a vision to engineer student-built, small-scale aircraft designed to surpass speed records one iteration at a time. Students in SSFE participate in a full engineering design cycle, which includes creating organization-driven requirements, conducting research and design idea trade studies, modeling designs using simulation-based softwares, and constructing a physical aircraft by hand for flight testing.
Since SSFE’s founding in Spring 2023, we have grown from 5 members to 30 strong, united under a common goal to produce SSFE’s first operable aircraft. The efforts of all team members current and past, and the professors/mentors who guided us along the way were what made this cycle’s development possible.
As Aggie Engineers in SSFE, we strive to push innovation to new heights through the development of our own creatively-designed aircraft to beat our previously set air speed records.
Members shall have an open space to professionally share ideas with their peers and discuss solutions grounded in critical thinking and problem solving.
We expect our members to uphold the engineering Code of Ethics and personal dignity that represents both SSFE and Texas A&M. Emphasis on instilling honesty and integrity into our members will ensure the success and maturity of SSFE and its members’ characters.
Extensive measures will be taken to ensure the safety and well-being of all of its members and anyone we interact with external to the organization.
